Twitter Art

"Someone soon is destined to write a novel using only twitter or shoot a feature film with only the iPhone."
August 11, BBC News reports that an opera is being composed on Twitter.
While both these ideas are fun, I'd hate to actually compose through Twitter. Instead, Twitter looks appealing as a performance medium. Imagine Twitter as the medium for a real-time novel:
- Each character have their own Twitter account.
- Each atomic thought, dialogue, observation, narration is written in atomic units in an off-line editing environment.
- Each atom is scored by time-code.
- When the novel is ready for presentation, posts are played into Twitter according to the time-coding.
This is 24 for novels.

After a study over some days, I think there are many opportunities for creating art on Twitter. However, I do not think that "real-time" art is necessarily the answer. One has to think of the readers and how they are going to access the art produced. Art is not art unless there is an intended audience and that audience has a hope of following the produced art. If I produced a "story" released from several Twitter accounts one would need to guide the audience as to how to connect the several accounts and to follow them in such a way as to be able to read the story.
On the other hand, there are several different ways a "story" can be produced using Twitter that maybe have not been tried yet. And there are other forms of telling a story via Twitter that could be rather creative in binding the story and the directions as to how to read the story or to apprehend the story. In other words, the Twitter directions already used by Twitter users can be made to be a part of the action, such as using "@twitteraccount" re-directions and "#hashclassifications" to guide the reader to other locations within the stream of Twitters to apprehend the story.
After a lot of thought, I think I can produce a work of art that combines the full range of ways to Twitter to become a part of the story. I will let you all know when and where you can begin following my work of art very soon.
