Harvesting the firehose

The outpouring of ideas looks very much like the output of a brainstorming session. Like any brainstorming session, for the information to be used, it needs to be collated and evaluated and cross-fertilised. While the output of brainstorming sessions are captured and documented and analysed, who harvests the Twitter firehose?
Even more to the point: Should someone wish to harvest this firehose, how do they go about doing so? While an application like TweetDeck will show you the responses, how do you go about harvesting them? TweetDeck won't export its search results to an OPML file. Nor will it allow copy and pasting an entire pane.
Where is the ability to connect this firehose to a Tinderbox document, stream in the notes, stamp the relevant responses, and begin aggregating and evaluating the ideas? Will we allow our collective knowledge to aimlessly gush over the landscape of our lives? Or will we funnel and capture and nurture this latent knowledge, to reap a collective harvest?
