Good bye, cruel word

Today I came across a superb personal history of electronic writing by Steven Poole. He describes an arc of electronic tool design that begins with a Brother electronic typewriter and casts Scrivener as a delightful escape from the outdated, unimaginative, crashing and cruel Word.

As an aside, I find Steven's site design as fascinating as his prose is smooth.

I really like those post that people make a contrast and a time line. 4rx is pretty well known because of those comparisons.
